About Us

Here at LimeSkills we’re all about caring….

Whether your staff provide care for vulnerable people,

You may care for a loved one,

Your organisation may support volunteers who care for people in the local community…

Whatever the situation, LimeSkills delivers a flexible range of learning and support services, enabling people to gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to provide support which meets best practice, is effective and affordable.

Since 2011 we have established a training centre in Ipswich, Suffolk, and built a team with management and care provider ownership experience, qualified trainers with vocational expertise and with family or community carer experience – people who are passionate about supporting people.

To demonstrate our commitment to support others, the organisation is a registered Community Interest Company, a CIC, with the community of interest being Family Carers.  This means that legally we are a not for profit organisation, and any surplus generated from our trading activity is used to fund the training and support of family carers in Suffolk.

We provide refreshments to promote a relaxed learning environment
Hosting the "Bake Off" for MacMillan cancer support
Assisting the fallen person, a course specifically designed for family carers
Rebecca, one of our learners, receiving an award at last years SALF ceremony

At LimeSkills we strive to ensure all our training events are an engaging experience for all who attend.

Training budgets and monies are tight everywhere, we constantly check our competitors to ensure we are offering value for money, high quality training. At Limeskills we aim to develop not only knowledge, but confidence and positive attitudes.

Unlike other providers LimeSkills specialises in small groups with the emphasis on the learner’s experience as well as the end result.

I’ve always worked in the social care and community development sectors and would never want to do anything else. People supporting people to live well is something that I believe will never be replaced by technology. Providing care requires an increasing level of skill and knowledge, as the complexities of the conditions that people to live with, grows.

I am proud of leading LimeSkills CIC as a Social Enterprise here in Suffolk and enjoy working with other organisations in the voluntary and charity sector. Our combined aim is to increase the impacts we can have on the lives of local people.

Nicola Bradford

Managing Director, LimeSkills CIC

Since joining LimeSkills  6 years ago, I have taught a large number of Emergency First Aid at Work, Fire Safety and Health and Safety courses. All can be rather “dry” subjects but my experience in the RAF and Fire Service enable me to deliver engaging, practical based activities. I can also provide examples of real life situations I have encountered.

In my spare time I am closely involved, and committed to, my home area. I am a community first responder for the East of England Ambulance Service, president of a local youth football club and I help to promote charities within my home town.

Peter Chaplin

Training Manager, LimeSkills CIC

I have been with LimeSkills from the beginning, having previously worked in the Hospitality and Catering industry, and as a college lecturer. My subject areas are anything food based along with personal development qualifications and community projects.

My role is constantly changing to meet the needs of the “boss” and our customers. No day is the same and I enjoy the wide variety of people and customers I have contact with.

I spend my spare time with my husband, walking our dog, baking and making weird crochet animals to keep me from eating chocolate.

Six carers and three family members attended a Moving & Handling course in the home of the disabled gentleman we look after.  All felt the experience was a positive one.  It was so helpful to be in situ with our specific equipment and the course was tailored to our needs.  Nicola was very helpful in resolving a tricky Moving & Handling issue for us.  She was friendly, professional and provided written information.  I have since been on the Medication Training and Safeguarding courses and found those very good too.
