Half day course to develop knowledge, skills and confidence to support those with dementia


Why is this training important?

This half day workshop aims to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed when providing positive care for people with dementia on a regular basis. It gives an awareness of the causes and symptoms of dementia and is aligned to the National Dementia Strategy.

Who needs this training?

Anyone who wishes to learn more about dementia for their work or home environment. Care workers, family carers and volunteer organisations can all benefit from our relaxed, informative training.

Topics covered

We will help you improve your knowledge and understanding of:

  • Models and common types of dementia
  • Communication and interaction factors
  • Person centred approaches
  • Ways of working to ensure diverse needs are met
How long is the course?

This is a half day workshop am starts at 0930 and ends at 1230 PM starts at 1330 and ends at 1630. Time is allowed at the end of the session to answer individual questions relating to specific issues.

Are there any entry requirements?

No, just a willingness to learn and promote good practice in Dementia care in the workplace and home.

How is the course assessed?
There is no formal assessment on this course but all who attend will be presented with an attendance certificate for CPD use.
Do I need to bring anything?

We supply tea, coffee and biscuits. If you have any specific questions please email them to us prior to the start of the course.

What is the cost?

The cost is £35 per person. Group discounts are available for 6 or more people and we will happily deliver this course wherever it is needed.

This course is available to book for groups of 6 or more.

It can be held at Felaw Maltings in Ipswich or at your premises.
