Why is this training important?

This course is designed to help family carers act with confidence when supporting people in their homes. The techniques shown and theory given, helps to maintain the health and well-being of the individual and the carer.

Who needs this training?

Anyone who supports the movement of another person either in work or the home.

Learning outcomes

  • The basics of Legislation
  • Risk Assessment
  • Principles of Safe Handling,
  • Practical Techniques in Care Settings; including use of mobile hoist

How long is the course?
The is a half day course AM starts at 9.30 and ends at 12.30, PM begins at 1.30 until 4.30.
Are there any entry requirements?
No but please make us aware, prior to the start of the course, if you have any mobility needs.
How is the course assessed?
There is no formal assessment on this course just group and individual practical activities. A certificate of achievement is awarded on completion of the course.
Do I need to bring anything?
We supply tea, coffee and biscuits. There is also an on-site cafe where homemade cakes and light lunches can be purchased.
What is the cost?
The cost is £50 per person. Group discounts are available for 6 or more people.
