Why is this training important?

This workshop gives an awareness of medication in social care settings. It covers broad types, classifications and forms of medication, as well as safe handling and storage. It addresses practical support for use of medication that reflects social care principles and values, and includes the need for accurate recording and reporting.

All employees who support the administration of medication in social care settings

All carers who provide basic assistance to individuals with their medication

New carers within social care settings

 

Learning outcomes

  • Identify and understand the risks associated with administration of medication

  • Safe procedures to use in a social care setting

  • How to deal with difficulties/ incidents when supporting individuals with medication

  • Adverse reactions

  • Using a MAR chart

 

Course Delivery

This half day course is delivered by presentation, discussion and practical demonstrations.  

 

Assessment

No formal assessment. Each learner will be awarded a certificate of achievement.
